Established in Brooklyn, New York, in 2017 by Satoko Nakagawa, HATORI draws inspiration from the artistry and ingenuity of traditional Japanese samurai armor.

Rooted in centuries-old techniques of armor construction, HATORI's sculptural handbags explore the relationship between form, function, and craftsmanship. Traditional Japanese lacing is reimagined through contemporary design, creating objects that are both expressive and enduring.

Each piece is made in Japan using carefully selected vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany and custom-crafted Japanese cords and lacing. Through ongoing collaborations with skilled artisans, HATORI seeks to carry traditional craftsmanship forward into a new generation.
